…but I do still get a real kick when the moderator of a flickr photo group that focuses on photos of natal women asks to include one of my photos. Thanks!!!
Specifically, I am ready to exchange one set of hang-ups for another.
Good: no static issues (had a horrifying one in December), I hate how I look in a heavy coat, outerwear does incredible damage to my hair, and frankly I’m getting a little tired of wearing my boots all over the place.
Bad: spring does not usually bring relief from wind in NYC, I’ve got the rainy season to look...
Last night was an interesting evening, best related in chronological order (for want of a clearer way to organize my thoughts—a timeworn literary trick, true, but nonetheless one employed to good effect by other authors whose fame, if not their talent, legitimates an otherwise shoddy gimmick): leaving the office early, I got to my apartment and took my time getting made up and trying on, in...

I’m going to be blogging about this for a while, which is probably a good thing because maybe I’ll finally shut up about flickr. The question is “now what?” Specifically, how the fuck am I going to…

I decided that I wanted to get a new purse while I was in San Mateo. So I went to Macy’s and found a nice 9 West bag that was exactly the size I needed. Went up to the SA and we were chatting a bit as she started to ring up the purchase. Anyway, I used my credit card - forgetting that in California they usually ask to see your id. Well, not a big deal - and sometimes it’s fun to...
Not really much to report on Friday. Good news was that my schedule got shuffled yet again (I swear this trip has been absolutely ridiculous in that regard!) so I was free by late afternoon. I thought I’d go over to the Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo. Tunic and leggings, check. But on this trip I learned a very important lesson about Hue “skinny leggings”. In brief, they...
Last night was great fun after a wretched flight to SF. Well over two hours late, which meant a fair amount of schedule-shuffling before I could get to the hotel and get ready to see Lena. Fortunately, a night of hanging and a careful job packing meant that one of my nice outfits was in good enough shape to wear. I got ready and headed over to St. Michael’s Alley, a great little...
Another flight, another blog entry. Sorry it has been a while. Not much to report from Erica-land. All things trans seem to be moving along pretty smoothly. The painting, etc. for the new apartment are nearly done, so I’ll be migrating the home base from West Village to Chelsea in a few weeks. It will be fun to explore such a vibrant new area! (Plus I am only about 1/2 mile walk away...

Lots of interesting stuff to note, and not enough time. I am very glad I came. On the basis of today alone the trip was worth it. Got to meet (in person, finally) Robin, Jenny and Nicole. Had a couple nice exchanges with Jenney Boylan who did a great show. Lots more socializing. An interesting high point: Chloe Prince (the Pink One herself) came over to introduce herself at the bar. (For...
Well, as I’ve mentioned below I have been experimenting with Studio Fix foundation instead of the heavier/more saturated Studio Tech. Studio Tech has been my mainstay for the last year or so. Very nearly every photo I’ve posted has featured it prominently. (And Studio Tech itself was a lighter improvement from the full coverage foundation before that!) I think I have now sorted...
I am so disgusted with the nightmare in Caster Semenya’s life I cannot even describe it. The world should be celebrating the stunning accomplishments of one of our most extraordinary young athletes. Instead, the media is gleefully turning an innocent 19 year old girl into a circus sideshow. And the commentary in the blogosphere and on the internet is so sickening that I am seriously...
On the short list of most enjoyable books I have ever read is a little volume titled “On Drink” by the novelist Kingsley Amis. Turns out that in addition to being a brilliant novelist, the guy knew his stuff about alcoholic beverages… and he wrote three short volumes on the subject. Numbers 2 and 3 are so-so, but the first is brilliant, funny stuff. In it, Amis describes a...
Well, THAT got your attention, didn’t it? It sure felt that way last night, though. As I’ve probably bored you with already, I am really trying to minimize the amount of makeup I can get away with wearing. It’s incredible to me to look back at the photos of me wearing a heavy dose of MAC full coverage foundation with lots of powder. With a little practice, it looked ok. But I...
As I blogged earlier, I spent most of August on vacation with the family. I did, however, spend a couple days in NYC dealing with some business matters. During those days I had some spare time for myself, which I spent en femme. Specifically, I did something I seldom do these days - had some fun trying on a bunch of outfits that I’d never wear out in public. In some cases it was just...
Looks like we are in for another season of those damned ruffles on every top and dress. Seriously: who actually likes this look?
Wow, that was a long trip. It’s good to be back in NYC. Obviously, not much trans news in the last couple weeks. Except that I went CRAZY rocking the fem clothing sales in Texas. Dillard’s (a local department store) and Macy’s were both moving out their summer inventory, and I managed to get some amazing deals. Nothing more fun than buying a dress that you were seriously...

Well, it has been a while since I have written here. We’ve been on “vacation” for a couple weeks, which really means “run around like crazy trying to pack a 60 hour workweek into 20 hours, and then swim with the kids in the afternoon. It’s been wonderful to reconnect with the family a bit, but there hasn’t been much blogging time.
I just spent a couple of...
I don’t usually blog about non-trans things, but this was just too damn cute. My 5 year old son lost his first tooth yesterday! Now he had been really worried about this - he still does not understand that this is a normal thing. So we have been explaining to him that he gets a new tooth - but he wasn’t really catching on. So the tooth comes out, and we tell him that we will look for...

1. I have no business being out that late. 2. Thank god I did not drink too much. 3. It was wonderful to see Lena, Cat, Caprice, Cleopatra, Devin, Amy, Basil et al. 4. Lena is really getting good at drag. 5. I don’t know how not to lead when dancing. 6. Which is ok because I suck at dancing anyway. 7. But it’s still more fun en femme. 8. The makeup really turned out well! ...
